Job Description:
- All cases about the Supreme Court of Pakistan and High Courts; All cases about all other courts, forums, and tribunals.
- Legal opinion on all constitutional and legal matters; and
- Any other legal work assigned by the Commission.
- The Legal Consultant will work under the Election Commission of Pakistan.
Disqualification:
- No person shall be eligible for appointment as Legal Consultant who:
- Has been or is dismissed from service as a consequence of disciplinary proceedings.
- The candidates who applied for the post of Legal Consultant shall submit an affidavit declaring their non-involvement in any other relevant business/job which may be tantamount to a conflict of interest.
- Such persons who have been removed from Government Service or from due to unsatisfactory performance or on account of moral & financial turpitude, shall not be eligible to apply for the said position.
- All such persons applying for the post shall submit an affidavit that they have not been removed from any Government department, semi-government, or any organization based on unsatisfactory performance as mentioned in this clause.
- Has been or is convicted, by a court of competent jurisdiction, for an offence involving moral turpitude; and Conflict of Interest:
- The candidate shall submit to the Commission an affidavit declaring his/her non-involvement in any other relevant business/job which may be tantamount to a conflict of interest.
Termination of Contract:
The contract of the Legal Consultant may be terminated on completion of tenure or by giving one month’s notice by either side.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
The performance of the Legal Consultant shall be monitored by the Hon’ble Chief Election Commissioner.
Applicability of other rules:
In respect of matters not specified here, the law, rules, policies, etc. applicable to the corresponding level of civil servants shall be applicable.
